There is a really thin line between barrel and cylinder matching. There are instances when increasing the air volume(using a type 0 cylinder) would be beneficial in upgrading an AEG. I just did a couple of tests yesterday to further enhance my knowledge with barrel:cylinder matching.

I used my M249 for testing since it offered faster barrel and spring changes
The following combinations where tested

type 0 cylinder, stock m4a1 length barrel, settled sp130 spring:460 fps
type 0 cylinder, stock m4a1 length barrel, settled stock spring: 389fps
type 0 cylinder, stock m249 length barrel(510mm), settled sp130 spring:490 fps
type 0 cylinder, stock m249 length barrel(510mm), settled stock spring: 420fps
type 0 cylinder, 6.03 prometheus barrel(550mm), settled sp130 spring: 510fps
type 0 cylinder, 6.03 prometheus barrel(550mm), settled stock spring: 460fps

The instance I noticed when more air would be beneficial is when you are using a heavier bb. Although I would need to do additional testing to check the reliability of the data.

One quick way to check if you're gun has too much air in its cylinder:
1)Turn off the hop
2)Chrono the gun and take note of the reading
3)Adjust the hop minimally
4)Chrono the gun and take note of the reading
5)Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the hop adjustment knob/lever is more than halfway through

*After doing this test, you would notice that either the fps of the gun would increase or decrease. If it increases, that means that too much air is being provided by the cylinder.
